Job Title : Back End Developer (Java/Microservices)
Remote, 12-month contract, must be based in British Columbia
Must hold a valid Canadian Work Visa
Our client is re-architecting a high-traffic e-commerce platform to enable next-generation scalability, performance, and cloud-native capabilities.
We’re looking for skilled Full Stack and Back End Developers to support this initiative.
If you excel in building seamless front-end experiences or robust backend systems (or both), you’ll have the opportunity to make a significant impact on this transformative project.
Responsibilities:
- Develop scalable backend services using Java Spring MVC (some roles may include Spring Webflux).
- Design and implement microservices within a modern cloud environment (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Build dynamic front-end interfaces with React and Next.js, optionally using ChakraUI or NextUI.
- Collaborate with a dedicated Business Analyst to translate business requirements into robust, user-friendly solutions.
- Ensure backend systems support core e-commerce functionality including inventory, cart, order management, and customer data.
- Apply DevOps best practices across the SDLC, including CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and performance tuning.
- Deliver secure, high-performance, and responsive solutions for a growing customer base.
Qualifications - 3+ years of experience with Java and Spring frameworks.
- Experience developing front-end applications using React and/or Next.js.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices architecture, and asynchronous data flows.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and agile delivery environments.
- Experience with e-commerce platforms or high-traffic web systems is a strong asset.
- Bonus: knowledge of web performance optimization, SEO, mobile responsiveness, or mobile APIs (Swift/Kotlin)
