Job Summary: <p>The Specialized IT Consultant will design, develop, and deploy secure, scalable RESTful APIs and microservices to support a notification platform aimed at improving communication for accused individuals in the judicial process.

This role requires expertise in Java, Spring Boot, integration patterns, containerized environments, and security frameworks to deliver high-quality software solutions that ensure timely and accurate court notifications.</p> Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Create detailed design and specification documents for RESTful APIs including endpoints, request/response models, authentication, and error handling.</li> <li>Develop clean, scalable, and secure REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot following best practices and company standards.</li> <li>Design and deploy modular, decoupled microservices with clear inter-service communication protocols.</li> <li>Implement application logic to transform and route data using APIs based on business requirements.</li> <li>Ensure comprehensive test coverage using tools like JUnit, Mockito, and Test Containers to maintain code reliability.</li> <li>Design and optimize efficient relational database schemas to support API data storage and retrieval.</li> <li>Profile and optimize APIs for performance, memory usage, and throughput under load.</li> <li>Secure API calls with proper authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth2, JWT, and input validation.</li> <li>Containerize applications using Docker, and manage deployment with docker-compose and Kubernetes manifests.</li> <li>Integrate monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or Splunk for operational visibility.</li> <li>Produce clear documentation including design, deployment instructions, and operational guides.</li> <li>Conduct regular code reviews, provide feedback, and mentor junior developers to ensure code quality.</li> <li>Provide weekly or sprint-based status updates on development progress, blockers, and delivered features.</li> <li>Respond promptly to production issues, perform regression fixes, and implement performance improvements.</li> <li>Be available for on-call support during weekends for production-related issues.</li> </ul> Required Skills & Certifications: <ul> <li>Extensive experience with REST API design, development, documentation, and testing.</li> <li>Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot framework.</li> <li>In-depth knowledge of integration patterns and building integration solutions using Spring Integration and Mainframe/IMS.</li> <li>Hands-on experience with messaging queuing systems such as Azure Service Bus and event-driven architecture.</li> <li>Proven experience working with containerized environments including Azure, OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices.</li> <li>Expertise in security and web services security standards including OAuth2, OpenID, SAML 2.0.</li> <li>Strong skills in SQL and experience with relational databases such as SQL Server or Oracle.</li> <li>Experience implementing authentication, authorization, and encryption following security best practices.</li> </ul> Preferred Skills & Certifications: <ul> <li>Proficiency in object-oriented and functional programming with modern Java features.</li> <li>Experience with microservice architecture and building scalable, highly available systems.</li> <li>Knowledge of HTTP methods, status codes, and REST best practices.</li> <li>Experience with enterprise integration technologies such as JMS, AMQP, and XML-based solutions including XSLT and XPath.</li> <li>Familiarity with data transformation techniques like mapping and normalization within Spring Integration.</li> <li>Experience with Azure Event Hub and other event-driven platforms.</li> <li>Strong experience writing automated tests including unit and API tests.</li> <li>Familiarity with Kubernetes orchestration tools such as Helm.</li> <li>Experience with Agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban.</li> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.</li> <li>Ability to mentor junior developers and contribute to architectural decisions.</li> <li>Strong problem-solving, debugging, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.</li> </ul> Special Considerations: <ul> <li>Position is onsite with a mandatory 7.25-hour workday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.</li> <li>Availability for weekend on-call support for production issues is required.</li> <li>Work involves handling sensitive judicial communication systems requiring high security and reliability.</li> <li>Contract duration and extensions are subject to master service agreement terms and security clearance timelines.</li> </ul> Scheduling: <ul> <li>Standard onsite work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day within the 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM window, excluding breaks.</li> <li>On-call availability for weekends as needed for production support.</li> </ul>
